Rosemary Oberlander NAPA

Based in North Berwick for nearly thirty years, I grew up in Aberdeen where I graduated in architecture. The past eight years I have spent the summer at my Beach Hut studio and art gallery at North Berwick’s historic harbour. It's amazing how much you can fit into a 2m x 2m space! I paint outdoors beside the hut and have met interesting people from all around the world when they wander over to see what I’m doing.

I love working with acrylics - working outdoors requires that I work quickly to avoid my palette drying out and that suits my impatient nature! I love the paints' vibrancy and immediacy and also their flexibility, for instance I work on a variety of surfaces, from card, timber panel, natural birch bark, aluminium and copper. I love having so many options.

I am a member of both the Society of Scottish Artists and Visual Arts Scotland, and I have been President of the North Berwick Art Group for the past ten years
