Acrylic is the most versatile medium I have used. We didn’t hit it off right away but I soon came to value its’ properties. When I like to work quickly it’s ideal; I use acrylic to do life drawing and find its’ quick drying nature a huge advantage. It comes in a large range of colours and can be used in a variety of ways (I quite often end up finger painting to get the effect I’m looking for). Colour is one of the most important things in my work and whether you want to achieve bright like Miro or muted like Sickert, it presents no problem. I hope I will never stop experimenting with technique and discovering new methods with acrylic, I love it! I was once told by my tutor to paint the truth. With this in mind and with acrylics, you will not go far wrong. I have exhibited acrylics with The Society of Women Artists/ Oxford Art Society/ Oxford Art Weeks/ and of course NAPA.
