Jayne Ensor NAPA

Jayne was born in Birmingham in 1962 moving to Devon with her children in 1999. Drawing and painting has been her lifelong passion and something to which she has always returned. Like many people Jayne engaged once again with her art during the covid-19 pandemic, through drawing and watercolour painting. During the last few years she has been developing her current abstract style often drawing inspiration from the post impressionists, Bauhaus and the New York School. Acrylics form an important part of her process, as her paintings usually begin with acrylic blocks or washes. She enjoys their versatile and fast drying properties and ability to combine with a variety of acrylic media for different effects. She often combines them with other media such as watercolour or oil glazes and uses oil bars, charcoal, acrylic pens and inks etc for mark making. Jaynes work is inspired by daily walks and observations of her surroundings in the Devon countryside, woodland and coast. Through her semi abstract and abstract works she has freedom to express her connection to the landscape through the use of colour, shape, space, line and form. Her works consist of landscapes, seascapes, close observational work and non objective pieces.
