Barbara Robjant NAPA
Although I have always enjoyed the creative side of life, I have not had any training in art and pursued a more scientific career. Now that I am retired I am taking great pleasure in being able to paint, learn and develop as an artist.I particularly love to see transparency and vibrant colours in paintings, and my work reflects this in my landscapes and seascapes. More recently these have veered towards the semi-abstract, which I find has freed up my use of colour. Although I usually work with acrylic paint, I also use acrylic inks to accentuate this sense of brightness in a painting. I use some of my own paintings, often where I have been experimenting with mark making and palettes, to make mixed media collages. It is exciting to see how a collage develops from an initial idea, as the need to use the colours and torn shapes you have available dictates a direction for the final image.I am a member of the Associated Midland Artists, Visual Images Group and Bucks Art Society as well as NAPA. I have exhibited with the Bucks Art Society, at a central gallery in Leamington and at the Warwickshire and Bucks Open Studios.
