Alix Baker PCAFAS NAPA UA
Through her paintings Alix seeks to tell a story that continues beyond the confines of the canvas, prompting the imagination of the viewer. Her strong use of colour leans towards what some call “a touch of the Scottish Colourists”, but may be more due to having had to work in bad light in any available corner of the many houses she has lived in!
For many years Alix was one of the UK’s leading military artists with her work in collections around the world and in numerous museums. She was written articles for international publications on the evolution of military dress and been the subject of study by GCSE and A Level students.
She has exhibited widely at home and abroad and for six years was the first woman and first non-military person to Chair the Armed Forces Art Society which held its annual exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, London. A few of the organisations she has exhibited with are the RSMA, RBA, SGFA, SWA, ING Discerning Eye and many art societies.
